Joe Koenig

Joe Koenig, 71, owner of the Knob Hill Inn in Ketchum, passed away on Sunday morning, April 11, 2010.

Joe came to Ketchum in 1966 from Lustenau, Austria, by way of Vancouver, B.C., and Mammoth Lakes, Calif., working in the hospitality and construction industries during his life. He was a Ketchum City Council member in the late 1970s and a member of the Catholic Church choir for many years. He played tennis with enthusiasm and enjoyed everything Ketchum had to offer.

Joe was born July 27, 1938, in Lustenau, Austria, to Josef and Maria Hollenstein Koenig. He was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters. Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Sandra of Ketchum, his sons and their families—Gregory and Kristen, Amelia and Alden Koenig of Boise and Andrew, Jill and Riley Koenig of Caldwell—as well as a brother, Hubert Koenig of Bregenz, Austria.

Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 17, 2010, at Our Lady of the Snows Catholic Church on Sun Valley Road. Lunch will follow in the parish hall. All are welcome! In lieu of flowers, contributions in Joe's name may be made to the Idaho Food Bank, Boise Rescue Mission or a charity of the donor's choice. Services are under the care of Wood River Chapel, Hailey.
