As part of Sexual Assault Awareness Month in April, the Hailey-based Advocates for Survivors of Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault will sponsor the second annual Carbonate Hill Climb Race and barbecue as a fundraiser.
The event is set for Saturday, April 24. Race-day check-in starts at 10 a.m. and the race begins at 11 a.m. The barbecue starts at noon at Hop Porter Park in Hailey.
Pre-registration is available at Backwoods Mountain Sports, The Elephant's Perch and Sturtevants Mountain Outfitters. Participants can also register online at www.theadvocates-aplacetogo.com.
Pre-registration fees are $10 per person or $25 per family. Race-day registration costs $20 per person. The barbecue costs $5.
Also in April, The Advocates are sponsoring a free self-defense class for teen and adult women on Friday, April 23. The class will be held from 5:30-8 p.m. at the Community Campus in Hailey.

The Advocates is a nonprofit organization dedicated to preventing domestic violence and sexual assault in Blaine County. The staff and volunteers provide a victims' shelter in Hailey, support groups, counseling, legal assistance, child care, mentoring, court advocacy and prevention programs in schools and in the community.
