Sun Valley riders book berths at USASA Nationals

Ten riders on the Sun Valley Ski Education Foundation's snowboard team have qualified to compete at the U.S. of America's Snowboard Association's 21st annual National Championships, April 3-12, at Copper Mountain, Colo.

Sun Valley snowboarders among the 1,512 confirmed competitors are:

Ali Appleton, the Intermountain overall champ in halfpipe and slopestyle; Mal Prior, the Intermountain halfpipe champion, who will also compete in slopestyle; Wyatt Bunce (SS); Bria Gillespie (HP); Hailey Rheinschild (HP); Dash Stethem (HP); Sam Strong (HP); and Chase Josey (HP/SS), who was also invited to ride in "The Launch," a junior exhibition at Keystone, Colo.

Ryan Roemer qualified to compete in all five events, but, unfortunately, recently dislocated his shoulder. Another qualified rider, Josie Bunce, will be on the sidelines due to a dislocated elbow.

"With our small team, qualifying this many is rad," team director Andy Gilbert said. "The Intermountain is stacked this year."
