William Franklin Goble

William Franklin Goble was born in Prosser, Neb., on Dec 25, 1921, to Homer and Violet Goble. He attended schools in Rupert, Idaho, and Scio, Ore. The Goble family moved to Hazelton, Idaho, in 1936. The family purchased a small gas station in Rupert, where the boys helped with the lunch counter. Later on in life, Homer bought a berry farm in Scio, Ore., hoping the teenage boys would help harvest the berries, but to quote the teenage boys, "We're not picking any damn berries." So that did not work out well. The family then moved back to Rupert and back to the small gas station and lunch counter.

Frank entered the Army on the 7th day of August 1942. He served in England and South Africa. He always bragged about riding on an airplane and having an office near actor Jimmy Stewart. He was honorably discharged on Sept. 20, 1945.

Frank met Charlotte Anderson in Jerome, Idhao, in 1950 and they were married Dec. 30, 1951. They had three children, Glenda (Elorrieta), Susan (Fiscus) and Frank (Goble). The family resided in Jerome where Frank worked as a butcher at the Sawtooth Market until the family relocated to the Wood River Valley in 1966. Frank then worked as a meat cutter for The Merc. He retired in 1987 although he never really stopped working. Frank went to work for the Bigwood Golf Course, which he continued to do until 2006. Frank and Charlotte then moved to Twin Falls, Idaho, where he lived the remainder of his life. His loves in life, according to his wife, were golf, his grandchildren and his family.

Frank is survived by his wife, Charlotte of Twin Falls; is three children, Glenda Elorrieta of Twin Falls, Susan Fiscus (Gene) of Carey, Idaho, and Frank Goble Jr. (Joan) of Ontario, Ore.; seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; a sister, Bernice Osborn, of Baker City Ore.; four brothers, Bernard Goble of Spokane Wash., Marion Goble of Wendell, Idaho, Leslie Goble of Wendell and Bob Goble of Richland, Wash. He was preceded in death by his parents, Homer and Violet Goble; a twin brother, Francis Goble; and a grandson, Travis Petersen.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 1, at 11 a.m. at Hove-Robertson Funeral Chapel in Jerome, Idaho. Graveside services will be at the Jerome Cemetery with a luncheon to follow.
