Secrecy violates public rights

I think we need to question state Rep. Wendy Jacquet and the Stennetts for their votes on House Bill 531. Apparently, hunters feel the need for further protections from people who don't shoot wolves. The legislation, which has passed the House, now awaits Senate action. The bill has several provisions. One keeps the names of all hunters secret, unavailable to public scrutiny. Further, the law prohibits any interference with the legal taking of game. Liberal vigilantes must be terrorizing Idaho with their good intentions. Further, there's some ambiguous language suggesting Idaho can crack down on media/Internet advocacy for wolf protection, or ridicule of Fish and Game. These Constitution-loving conservatives just can't wait to limit your freedom of speech, or to violate the Freedom of Information Act.

Regardless of my stand on this issue, we deserve better representation, and certainly better communication from our legislators on this matter. Wendy, along with the Idaho Conservation League, voted for it, and so may Michelle Stennett. Democrats running for cover, again. Let's cut the fluff pieces, and let's cut to the chase.
