Nordic racers are All-Americans in Maine

Classic races at Presque Isle

Four Sun Valley Ski Education Foundation Nordic ski racers became All-Americans by finishing high in their classes during Wednesday's classic races of the 2010 USSA Cross Country Junior Nationals at Presque Isle, Maine.

They were Erik Fagerstrom, Zachary Lindahl, Sloan Storey and Maggie Williams. And Daniel Sundali just missed the All-American ranking in his class as three divisions of racers ran 15 kilometers, 10k and 5k at Nordic Heritage Center.

The highest finishes came from Fagerstrom, fourth of 52 Older Junior (18-19) men at 15k; along with Sloan Storey, 15, and Maggie Williams, 14, who were sixth and seventh of 54 J2 (14-15) women on the 5k course.

After two events, classic sprints and classic racing, Alaska maintained a 711-537 cushion over New England in the Alaska Cup team race. Sun Valley's Intermountain Division, buoyed by its J2 results, stood in fourth place of 10 teams with 306 points, just 51 points behind the Far West.

Freestyle 10k/5k racing is today, Friday, March 12 and freestyle relays March 13.
