William David Kane


William David Kane, 42, died early Saturday, March 6, 2010. He was born Aug. 25, 1967, in Bethlehem, Pa., the son of Tony and Nancy Kane. The family moved to Dubois, Wyo., when Bill was 4 years old. He grew up there and graduated from Dubois High School. Bill attended college in Wyoming and Missouri, playing football and earning a Bachelor of Arts degree.

He and Debra Gutches were married on Sept. 23, 1995, in Hailey, and made their home in Bellevue. Bill worked for Wood River Glassworks with several good friends. His artwork was always an important part of his life, whether painting, carving or drawing. He had been an avid exerciser and bodybuilder for over 25 years. He loved camping and exploring with his family. His greatest joy was being with his family. He had a wonderful sense of humor. His was a generous and loving soul.

Besides his wife, Debra, he leaves his children, Kendra Hammons, attending school in Missoula, Mont., Sara Koonce, a senior at Wood River High School and Nick and Jake Kane at home in Bellevue; his parents, Tony and Nancy Kane of Dubois, Wyo.; three sisters, Carolyn Maddux of Evanston, Wyo., Judy (Shawn) Beebe of Dubois, Wyo., and Cathy (Brian) Dennis of Thermopolis, Wyo.; two brothers, Mike Kane of Ketchum, Idaho, and Tom (Kara) Kane of Dubois, Wyo.; and several nieces and nephews.

Bill was preceded in death by his sister Barbara "B K" Kane.

Bill will be remembered and loved as a wonderful husband and father. He will be missed by his family and many friends.

The William Kane Memorial Fund has been established at Mountain West Bank, 206 N. Main Street, Hailey, ID 83333 for his family.

A time for remembering and celebrating the life of Bill Kane has been scheduled for 1 p.m., Thursday, March 11, at the Hailey LDS Church Cultural Hall. Friends are invited to bring a special memory to share with everyone. Refreshments will be available.
