Devo triathlon at Lake Creek

Younger members of the Sun Valley Ski Education Foundation cross-country ski team held their semi-annual "Devo Triathlon," on Sunday, March 7 at the Lake Creek trail system north of Ketchum.

Forty-six athletes participated in three events—the "Flying Downhill," an "Obstacle Course" and the half-kilometer "Skate Sprint."

In the J6 (ages 6-7) class, Eva Grover and Cash Dart of the Quigley Canyon team led the pack with two wins each.

The J5 (8-9) girls' category dominated the overall results, with the top four girls besting the fastest boys in the downhill race and skate races.

Representing the Lake Creek Devo and the Quigley Devo respectively, Lily Fitzgerald and Lily Brunelle outran the field, swapping close wins.

For the J4s (10-11), Ziggy Slanetz ran the downhill in 50 seconds flat, the only male to best the speedy J5 girl crew. Sophia Coplin hurdled to take a downhill first over teammates Leah and Emily Thayer.

Peter Wolter and Taylor Koth of Lake Creek battled to the line in the skate event, followed closely by Quigley Team senior Leo Corrales.
