An 18-year-old Blaine County woman has been charged with felony burglary and four counts of petit theft for an alleged shoplifting spree last week in Ketchum.

Police Chief Steve Harkins reported Monday that Dominique D. McCarthy was arrested on Feb. 22 after police received a shoplifting complaint from Art Quest West on East Avenue. An alleged accomplice, a 17-year-old girl, was also arrested.

Police declined to release the name of the juvenile, but Harkins said she was released to a parent and will be petitioned into court for similar charges. Police reported that both McCarthy and the juvenile live in Hailey.

Harkins said McCarthy and the girl allegedly stole about $1,500 in goods, mostly in jewelry and clothing, from at least seven Ketchum businesses on Feb. 22. He said other stores involved were Country Cousin, Comme Les Filles, Bellissimo, The Gold Mine, Theodore and Tater Tots Children's Boutique.

McCarthy was arraigned on the charges Feb. 23 in Blaine County Magistrate Court and released later that day on her own recognizance. A preliminary hearing was scheduled for March 9 before magistrate court Judge Jason Walker.
