Zenergy swimmers on top in Boise

Masters-class swimmers from Zenergy Health Club of Ketchum swept to the team championship of the 2010 Sawtooth Masters Winter Meet staged Feb. 27 at Boise YMCA.

With 43 gold medals, the Zen Masters prevailed 340-183 over the Sawtooth Masters. Age classes ranged from 30-34 to 70-79. Top winners for Zen were Jeff Jones and Michael Harrison with seven firsts.

Others winners for the 13-swimmer Zen contingent at Boise were Nate Thomas, Kristine Bretall, Toni LeClercq, Martha Hollenhorst, Fred Bieker, Larry Helzel, Jim Sorensen, Chrissy Gove, Karen Morrison, Roger Roland and Kristen Coulter.

High points for SV5B at Idaho Falls

Coach Brian Gallagher and the SV5B YMCA swimmers traveled to Idaho Falls for Winter Championships Feb. 19-21. With only nine swimmers competing the team still came away victorious bringing home the High Points Trophy.

Kaedi Fry had an exceptional weekend. She placed first in 200 IM, 100 breast, 400 IM, 50 breast and 200 breast. Lena Friesen also enjoyed a sensational weekend taking first in 200 IM, 100 free and 400 IM.

Elizabeth Fry captured first place in 500 free. Second-place medals went to Kelsey Syms in 50 fly and 200 IM; Lena Friesen in 100 breast, 50 breast and 100 fly; Michael Coiner in 50 back, 200 free and 200 back; and Kaedi Fry in 50 free.

Eleven of the SV5B YMCA swimmers will travel to Boise March 5-7 to take part for the first time ever in the YMCA Regional meet.

Other personal bests at Winter Championships included:

Brett Bosley, 15: 7—100 back. 10—200 free and 100 breast. Taylor Coiner, 17: 2—500 free. 3—50 back and 200 back. Ashley Dreyfus, 12: 7—100 breast. 8—50 breast.

Elizabeth Fry, 15: 3—200 free. Kelsey Syms, 14: 3—50 back and 100 back. Colby Werley, 15: 3—50 fly. 5—100 breast and 50 breast.
