As I write this on the morning of Feb. 12, some 2,000 flights have been cancelled out of Atlanta alone. Record-setting cold, snow and ice are paralyzing the South right now (Mississippi, Georgia, Louisiana, Alabama, Florida), but I guess as long as the Mountain Express keeps clinging to its extremely tired and histrionics-prone mantra that temperatures across the board are rising at alarming rates, they must be right. You said in your Feb. 10 ("Face Facts About Climate Change") editorial, "Doing nothing while climate change shapes life and landscapes isn't an option unless the nation wants to invite distress."
Well, I'm thinking right now that much of the "distress" the U.S. is facing has much less to do with unceasing warming trends than it does with an acute shortage of salt trucks, tire chains and de-icing chemicals. Type "Climate-Gate" into your search engine and then see if you still want to keep genuflecting in front of all these highly respected and peerless scientists you think so much of.
