The nexStage Theatre play-reading series will present Wallace Shawn's "The Fever" on Thursday, Feb. 18, at 7 p.m. Shawn is a recognizable face from film and television, having written and starred in "My Dinner With Andre." He has also performed in popular movies including "The Princess Bride" and "Clueless."
"The Fever" is about an American who is in a prison cell in a Third World country. He is about to be tortured and reflects on his life. The play won an Obie Award for best play in 1991.
"It's about class and the rich and the poor," said Jon Kane, who will perform the monologue. "It reveals why everyone is the way they are."
Kane said it's a provocative piece and the audience will be provoked into a discussion.
"Sun Valley is an affluent community, which is what makes this special to do here," Kane said.
Complimentary wine and cookies will be offered at the reading. For details, call 726-4857.
