I have lived in the area for almost 10 years now and have heard about way too many deaths of snowmobilers out hill climbing in high avalanche danger times.
There are three that I remember specifically because they are people that I knew or knew of. It is not like these men were very young with no responsibilities. They all had beautiful young families and all had businesses.
What were they thinking? Did they think that the avalanche warnings didn't apply to them or were they just hell bent on getting their adrenaline rush for the day and didn't think at all.
In this latest death in Camas County, the snowmobiler left behind a wife and four children all under the age of 10. How very sad.
Please, guys, listen to the warnings and think about what would happen to your family if you are the unlucky one to get caught up in another very violent avalanche.
