Soldier Is Back In Action


Skiers and snowboarders congregate on Saturday, Jan. 30, around the new base lodge at Soldier Mountain ski area north of Fairfield. The ski area, owned by actor Bruce Willis, opened for the season on Thursday, Jan. 28. Regular operating hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursdays through Sundays. “The parking lot is full, we have lots of happy people, and the sun is shining,” mountain manager Larry Davenport said. The ski area has a snow base of 30 inches, he said. The old base lodge burned down last year. Express photo by Willy Cook
