A Sun Valley man could face up to 30 years in prison if convicted of two counts of aggravated DUI, a felony, in connection with a single-vehicle injury accident last September in Elkhorn.

During Fifth District Court arraignment proceedings Monday, Judge Robert J. Elgee advised 43-year-old defendant Robert Douglas Logan that aggravated DUI is punishable in Idaho by up to 15 years in prison. Logan pleaded not guilty to both charges.

Elgee scheduled a jury trial for April 13. The trial is expected to last about four days.

The charges against Logan, the manager of Elkhorn Springs Market, stem from an accident on Elkhorn Road on Sept. 16 that led to Logan and two passengers being flown by emergency helicopter to Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise.

A probable-cause affidavit filed by Sun Valley police officer Conar Cunningham alleges that Logan had a blood-alcohol content of .155, nearly twice the legal limit of .08.

According to police reports, the accident occurred about 11:45 p.m. near the intersection of Elkhorn and Horseshoe roads. Cunningham wrote in the affidavit that Logan was driving a green Jeep Grand Cherokee north on Elkhorn Road and "failed to navigate a curve in the roadway." The vehicle rolled about 15 feet down an embankment and came to rest on the passenger side.

The Sun Valley Fire Department had to extricate Logan and his passengers, identified by police as Byron Skinner, 46, and Andrew Krajcik, 35. Police reported earlier that Skinner was from Utah and Krajcik from Oregon but that both had been staying in the Elkhorn area.

All three were taken to St. Luke's Wood River Medical Center and then flown to Saint Alphonsus. Cunningham wrote in the probable-cause affidavit that Krajcik suffered a broken rib, punctured lung and spinal fracture, while Skinner received facial lacerations, a spinal fracture and a broken ankle. Injuries to Logan were not listed in the report.

Cunningham wrote that Krajcik and Skinner had attended a party hosted by Logan at Elkhorn Springs Market and that the accident occurred when Logan was giving the two men a ride to their Bluff Condominium residence.

Logan was not arrested, but was instead issued a felony summons in late October when blood-alcohol test results became available to Sun Valley police and the Blaine County Prosecuting Attorney's Office.
