Anyone who lives in the Wood River Valley knows there is a plethora of beautiful custom-built homes here. Now, the rest of the world will know, too.

In an effort to change its image and programming, "MTV Teen Crib" will feature the Gimlet home of Susan and Jerry Flynt. The television show debuted on Thursday, Jan. 28, but will be shown again. Check listings for dates and times.

This season of "MTV Teen Crib" features ordinary teens who live in extraordinary homes that are designed with them in mind.

"An MTV producer was surfing the Internet and saw an advertisement from our architect, Tim Brown, and called us," Jerry said. "Eleven days later they show up at 7 a.m. and left at 7 p.m."

The house has a DJ room for dancing, a zip-line across their pond, an outdoor climbing wall and a barn full of horses. Living Architecture and Heather Madden HRM Design designed the home.

"It's a green and healthy home," Jerry said. "We used a lot of reusable materials. We have radiant heat and we have membrane in the walls to allow us to keep humidity control."

Jerry said all the paints, tints and stains used in his home are non-toxic. The Flynt teens, Reta and Travis, got to design their own bedrooms. During the filming in November, the Flynts shipped their horses back from Bruneau. The horses appeared for 20 seconds in the finished film.

Another home, on Wedeln Lane in Sun Valley, was featured on CNBC.com as one of "America's most impressive ski homes." The Whiting home, owned by Macauley Whiting, is for sale for a mere $8 million and has one of the most stunning views of Baldy in the area.

Sitting on the flank of Proctor Mountain, the home has panoramic views of not only Baldy, but Dollar Mountain and most of Sun Valley. Built in 1980, the home includes a one-bedroom, one-bath guesthouse along with an attached studio/office space and a solar greenhouse addition.

The home also features 3,454 square feet of decks and balconies, as well as a cobblestone driveway, which was hand laid by a team from Switzerland brought to Idaho specifically for that purpose.

"The Whitings were ahead of their time," said Vicki Carnes, Sun Valley Resort Realty broker. "People always comment on the classic design and that the house is museum-quality."

The Whiting home is featured among homes located in Aspen, Colo., Jackson Hole, Wyo., and Stowe, Vt.
