Tim Michael

Tim Michael lost his life on the afternoon of Friday, Jan. 22, 2010, while skiing on Baldy with his beautiful wife, Susie, and amazing son, Jake. Tim loved the snow—a passion for powder skiing was in his blood. Baldy was one of his favorite places to be any time of the year, hiking up the backside or skiing as often as possible.

Susie and Tim were fortunate to find each other in 1982 and were married in 1996. As life partners and best friends, they spent a lifetime together that ended too soon. Tim loved Susie with all his heart. Making two into three was their greatest joy when Jake was born.

Tim was a very energetic man with a vibrant personality. As a father, he shared with his son his spark of discovery and boundless love. Kayaking down the Middle Fork or the Main Salmon rivers with great friends, hiking in the Idaho mountains, searching for the best powder in the backcountry at Galena or camping on the Oregon coast, Tim was a man truly at home in and one with nature. Whether at Susie's side in the garden, or with Jake scrambling up rock faces, Tim was centered by the great outdoors. He worked for 25 years with longtime friend and business partner Rex Garner painting custom homes and commercial buildings, continuing the business on his own after Rex's retirement.

Tim was a wonderfully kind, loving and gentle man, the best husband, father and friend anyone could hope for. Family was his primary focus—he was always there for them and was fortunate to have spent oodles of time with them. His spirit will live on in all of us who knew and loved him. Tim touched so many of us in his own way—sincere and honest and always with love from his heart.

An education fund will be set up for Jake at US Bank for anyone who chooses to contribute to the unlimited possibilities of his future.

Everyone is welcome to gather and celebrate Tim's life at 2:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 29, at Lower Board Ranch, west of Ketchum.
