After stormy week, a bluebird day for Billy Goat

75 Nordic racers up north

It was close to a perfect day for the Sun Valley Ski Club's Billy Goat Loppet 11-kilometer race Saturday, Jan. 23. It went from Prairie Creek to Cathedral Pines in the Sawtooth National Recreation Area.

The race course was changed from Billy's Bridge at the beginning of last week, since organizers didn't know there would be quite a few storms and probably enough snow on the original course for Race Day.

But everyone seemed to enjoy the Harriman Trail course. It was certainly a good warm-up to the Wells Fargo Boulder Ski Tour Feb. 6.

Organizers expressed thanks to the sponsor Backwoods Mountain Sports along with Mountain Fairy for shuttling racers, Starbucks Coffee, Hammer Nutrition and Perry's for hot chocolate and goodies.

Check the Feb. 3 Local Life for more Billy Goat photos. The overall results follow:

Jan. 23, 2010, a total 75 skiers, 41 female and 34 male. Finishing times in minutes and seconds, with age listed after a racer's name.
