Councilman proposes Ketchum tunnel

Ketchum City Councilman Curtis Kemp asked everyone at Tuesday's council meeting to imagine a calm Main Street with no traffic lights or vehicles clogging the main arterial into town.

"I would like to bury Highway 75," he said and walked over to the whiteboard.

Drawn there was Highway 75 going underground at River Street on the south end of town and not emerging until Tenth Street on the north side. He said through traffic would take the tunnel and those coming into town would take an exit to Main Street.

"The hectic pace that exists on Main Street now would totally be eliminated," he said, later adding, "There you have it. It won't happen."

But there it is.
