Once again, Paul Tillotson has assembled a group of musicians to take over the Sun Valley Boiler Room, this time on Friday, Jan. 22, and Saturday, Jan. 23. Jake Stigers and Raven will play their classic rock 'n' roll music with Tillotson on the Hammond organ.
Stigers is a Boise native who used to sneak into bars to hear Tillotson play. When Stigers moved to New York City, the two became good friends and played together.
"Paul's DJ name is 'Styrofoam Munkee,'" Stigers said. "The two of us were the Shuntz Brothers, and we used to spin at Le Bar Bat in New York City."
Stigers will play guitar and is the lead singer for the Boiler Room performance, which will also include Greg Roukema on guitar, Brian Karp on bass and Rob Dragghi on drums.
"I used to play in Sun Valley all the time when I was in high school," Stigers said. "It's great to get back to the motherland."
Stigers has returned from touring the U.K., which he said was expensive but fun. He and Raven will play a mixture of original and "choice, tasty covers" from the 1960s and '70s with a Joe Walsh influence, he said.
