The Rotarun ski area is set to open its 2010 season Saturday, Jan. 9, at 10 a.m. Opening day will last until 4 p.m. and skiing will be free for everyone.

Regular lift ticket rates are $18 for adults, $12 for juniors 11 to 17, $8 for children 5 to 10 and $5 for tots 4 and under.

Located in Croy Canyon west of Hailey, Rotarun has 22 acres of ski terrain and is the only local ski area with lights for night skiing.

Opening day is dubbed Art Richards Day, in honor of the late Hailey dentist who was a longtime Rotarun fundraiser and supporter and who was dedicated to keeping skiing affordable for the community.

The Arkoosh Cup ski races are scheduled for Jan. 30 and Slush Cup races for Feb. 13. The annual Snow Box Derby is scheduled for Feb. 28.
