Club offers refunds after shortened show

Bruce Willis and Steve Miller blues concert shut down

The Christmas Eve power outage in the Wood River Valley occurred just as musicians Bruce Willis, Steve Miller and band were warming up The Mint in Hailey for a second night of blues music.

Many patrons had no idea the power outage went beyond The Mint until they left the club. Willis, Miller and band played almost four songs before the outage. Willis, the bar's owner, encouraged people to stay and get drinks while the musicians figured out what was happening.

Shelly Scott, office manager of Valley Entertainment, Willis' local company, said Willis decided to refund tickets because so many attendees complained about paying for a mere half-hour of music.

"It's not fair because we have to pay the band," Scott said. "[But] people called and complained so we are going to give refunds back."

Scott said refunds would be credited to tickets purchased by credit card. If people paid cash for tickets, they can bring their tickets to The Mint.

"If people won tickets off the radio or elsewhere, we are not going to refund them," she said.
