Landscape architect receives award

Ketchum-based Eggers Associates has received a Merit Award from the Idaho-Montana Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects for the landscape design of Our Lady of the Snows Catholic Church in Sun Valley. The award was presented to Kurt Eggers at the organization's biannual meeting, held in Boise in October 2009.

"It was not only important how the landscape looked from the outside but also from the inside," Eggers stated in a news release."

Eggers said vegetation was planted to show color through as much of the year as possible.

Discount ski packages offered

Starting Jan. 7, Alaska Airlines/Horizon Air will offer a $99 one-way fare for customers flying nonstop from Los Angeles to Hailey on Mondays through Thursdays. Flights must be booked seven days in advance and be before March 21.

Weekend travel—Friday through Sunday—is discounted to $119 each way.

Sun Valley Resort will complement the special airfare with a Winter Ski Free Special of $94.50 per person, including a free daily lift ticket for each night's lodging. The special will extend to March 21. The resort's Kids Stay and Ski Free program is also available from now to Feb. 11 and then again from Feb. 22 to the end of the ski season.

Realtor earns national certification

Sun Valley Resort Realty's Kim Taylor has earned the nationally recognized Short Sales and Foreclosure Resource certification from the National Association of Realtors. The certification is for agents who want to help both buyers and sellers with complicated distressed sales transactions.

According to the Realtors association, nearly one-third of all existing homes sold recently were either short sales or foreclosures. This certification teaches real estate agents how to help sellers maneuver the complexities of short sales as well as help buyers pursue short sale and foreclosure opportunities.

Realtors group announces new board

Mike Murphy of the McCann Daech Fenton real estate firm took over as president of the Sawtooth Board of Realtors on Jan. 1.

The board also announced its new officers for 2010. New members of the board of directors include First Vice President Joanne Wetherell, Secretary/Treasurer Bob Dittmer, past President Sonja Huntsman, Matt Bogue, Jason Buck, Jim Figge, John Heinrich, Sonya Johnston, Paul Kenny and Patty Smallwood.

Zenergy opens retail store

Zenergy at Thunder Spring in Ketchum has taken its clothing racks out of its lobby and opened the Zenergy boutique-clothing store. The store is located off the lobby and carries stylish gym and yoga wear. In addition, the boutique carries swim suits for both men and women.

The store opened on Monday, Dec. 14, and is open to the public. It carries an assortment of clothing lines including Lululemon for men and women, Sense, Speedo and Nala.

Jigsaw 'Show & Tell' scheduled

Local entrepreneurs and start-up businesses will have an opportunity next week to show the Wood River Valley community and each other their products, services and emerging ideas at Jigsaw's first annual "Show and Tell—2010."

The event will also be an opportunity to network with other entrepreneurs and learn how they manage and build their businesses.

Anyone who wishes to participate should bring a statement of business purpose, some marketing materials and work samples or other promotional materials. This is not a sales event but participating businesses can take orders from customers.

"Show and Tell—2010" will be held Monday, Jan. 11, from noon to 7 p.m. at Jigsaw's business incubator, the Hatchery, at 411 Sixth St., in Ketchum (entrance on Leadville). To help defray costs, fees are $8 per business. Visitors are free. For more information, contact Jima Rice at 726-1848.
