New Year's Eve has many celebrations in the Wood River Valley this year, with lots of live music. Tonight at Whiskey Jacques, urban hip-hop group Scenic Byway from Salt Lake City will play. For New Year's Eve, Thursday, Dec. 31, Whiskey's will feature the return of Marmalade Hill, another Salt Lake City band. Tickets for New Year's Eve are $50 and include party favors, gifts and champagne toast.
Micky and The Motorcars will make an appearance at Whiskey's on Saturday, Jan. 2. The band was originally an original Idaho group but Micky and The Motorcars now make their home in Austin, Texas, and have recorded several CDs, including their latest, "Naive," released last year.
Other live music includes The Damphools at the Casino in Ketchum with a $10 cover for New Year's Eve on Thursday, Dec. 31. At Papa Hemi's in Ketchum, live music for the holiday weekend will start this evening with The Mighty Shims from 6-9 p.m. On New Year's Eve, music will include Bart Budwig and friends from 8 p.m. to midnight during a second dinner seating. Bart Budwig and the Budwiggers will play on Friday, Jan. 1, from 6:30-9:30 p.m. and the Craig Meyers Blues Band will play Saturday, Jan 2, from 6:30-9:30 p.m.
In Bellevue, the Silver Dollar will feature Electric Snack at 9 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 31, for a New Year's Eve party, and DJ Marlene will play music on Friday, Jan. 1, at 9 p.m. In addition, The Brickhouse in Bellevue will have a New Year's Eve burlesque show with gender-bending performance art, hula-hoop by Boise Hoopla, pole acrobatics and tribal belly dance by Kristen Hill. Tickets are $35 and $30 for those dining at The Brickhouse. The performance will take place from 11 p.m. to 1 a.m. and includes a champagne toast. For reservations, call 788-4999.
A New Year's Eve celebration will take place at the Lodge Dining Room in Sun Valley. Enjoy a cocktail reception and four-course gourmet dinner with Aaron Baker playing piano durnig cocktail hour in the Lodge Sun Room from 8:30-9:30 p.m. and the Brooks Hartell Trio playing in the Lodge Dining Room at 9:30 p.m. Tickets are $145 per person and $85 per child under 12. A New Year's Eve party in Sun Valley's Limelight Room will take place from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. with the High Street Band with heavy hors d'oeuvres, cash bars and champagne toast. Tickets are $75 for adults.
