According to the Intermountain Masters Web site, Masters ski racing is the premier adult ski racing series in the country. Governed by the USSA, it welcomes racers of all levels—from beginners who enjoy exciting race courses, to former college racers and Olympians. Racers range in age from 18 to over 80 years old, competing in five-year age groups (25-29, 30-34, 35-40, etc.).
Intermountain Masters maintains overall season standings for all active competitors, using the old World Cup points system.
Overall standings are based on the best results in up to one half of the total races held. The top men and women in overall are awarded special leader bibs to wear during the following season. Last year's overall winners were Bob Skinner and Dana Alexandrescu.
