A fourth wolf hunting zone in Idaho, the Palouse-Hells Canyon zone in the northwestern part of the state, was closed on Friday, Dec. 18, after the limit of five wolves was reached.
Other areas already closed are the Dworshak-Elk City, McCall-Weiser and Upper Snake zones.
The Southern Mountains zone, which includes the Wood River Valley and extends east across the Pioneer, White Knob, Lost River, Lemhi and Beaverhead mountain ranges to the Montana border, has one wolf kill remaining before its quota of 10 is reached.

The Middle Fork zone is also nearly closed, with two wolves remaining before its limit of 17 is reached.
Throughout the state, 131 wolves have been killed since hunting began in September. The total number of wolves allowed to be killed in Idaho this season is 220, with the hunt closing in all zones on March 31 unless the individual zone limits are reached sooner.
