With fresh new snow on the ground and a special spirit permeating the air, Christmas in Sun Valley is a special time. This year, the Christmas weekend is filled with many activities and much entertainment, including shows at Sun Valley's Boiler Room and Duchin Lounge as well as live music at Whiskey Jacques' in Ketchum.

Sun Valley continues its holiday experience with The Fabulous Vuranettes at the Boiler Room in Sun Valley Village on Saturday, Dec. 26, and Tuesday, Dec. 29. The Fabulous Vuarnettes will also perform on Saturday, Jan. 2. All shows begin at 6 p.m. and tickets are $15 at the door. In addition, the "Forever Plaid" quartet will give a performance on Sunday, Dec. 27, at 6 p.m. in the Boiler Room. Tickets are $15 at the door.

The Boiler Room will also feature the comedy of longtime valley resident Mike Murphy beginning on Wednesday, Jan. 2, through the end of March. Murphy will perform his comedy from 6-7:30 p.m.

"I have decided for the winter season not to charge for my shows," Murphy said. "My first two shows this season were very successful, and I was trying out new material. It's time to give back to Sun Valley. Things are turning around, and it's much like the way après ski use to be."

Sun Valley's Duchin Room will offer live music by Leana Leach on piano today, Dec. 25, from 4-9 p.m. followed by the Joe Fos Trio until 1 a.m. Leach will play piano in the Duchin Room from 3-5 p.m. through Saturday, Jan. 2. The Duchin Room will welcome back one of winter's favorite entertainers, the Paul Tillotson Trio, on Saturday, Dec. 26, from 5-8:45 p.m. The trio will perform nightly through Saturday, Jan. 2.

Enjoy dining at Galena Lodge for special holiday dinners. Chef Don Shepler has prepared multi-course dinners for Christmas Day and a holiday dinner for Saturday, Dec. 26. In addition, the lodge will offer a Full Moon dinner on Tuesday, Dec. 29, and Wednesday, Dec. 30. A New Year's Eve dinner will be served on Thursday, Dec. 31.
