Welcome back live music at Whiskey’s

As Whiskey Jacques' gains momentum with its live music schedule, it has not forgotten the bands that love to play the valley. A newly configured Cosmic Beans will play Whiskey's tonight. The Cosmic Beans are a valley cover band that plays rock 'n' roll classics, including Led Zeppelin, the Grateful Dead, the Rolling Stones, Little Feat, Stevie Wonder and Bob Marley. The band's musicians include Kent Mueller, John Valenzuela, John Zarcos, Cory Ballentine and Brian Carney.

Whiskey's also welcomes back the Jeremiah James Gang on Saturday, Dec. 26. Based in Boise, the Jeremiah James Gang performs frequently in Idaho and surrounding states. Solo or with his Gang, James has opened for and shared the stage with Robert Earl Keen, The Gourds, Dale Watson, Cross Canadian Ragweed, Reckless Kelly and Micky and the Motorcars.

From Jackson Hole, Wyo., Steam Powered Airplane will play Whiskey's on Monday. Dec. 28. Steam Powered Airplane is a four-piece bluegrass band. The band plays traditional acoustic instruments, which include banjo, fiddle, mandolin, guitar, upright bass and occasional dobro and telecaster. Three of the four players trade off on lead vocals and sing in three-part harmony.

Scenic Byway from Salt Lake City, Utah, is an original hip-hop band infused with electronica and jazz sounds. The band will play Whiskey's on Wednesday, Dec. 30. Band members are Kiel Palmer, Nick Romer, David Richeson, Tyler Reese, Wade Smith and Doug Overly. One of their more popular raps is "I Love Utah."

Whiskey's will have Dollar Night on Sundays and Tuesdays as well as DJ Night on Thursdays. DJ Marlene will spin songs on Thursday, Dec. 24.
