Hailey attorney gets probation for DUI

By TERRY SMITH
Express Staff Writer

Hailey attorney Kevin Cassidy was fined $600 and sentenced to 18 months unsupervised probation Monday after pleading guilty to misdemeanor DUI.

Sentence was pronounced in Blaine County Magistrate Court by retired Judge Michael Redman, who was assigned the case because Cassidy often appears as legal counsel before other judges in the 5th Judicial District.

Redman also suspended Cassidy's driver's license for 120 days and gave him a withheld judgment, a court provision that allows a conviction to be removed from a defendant's record upon successful completion of probation. Redman further sentenced Cassidy to 180 days in jail but suspended 178 days of the sentence and gave Cassidy credit for two days spent behind bars following his arrest.

Cassidy, an attorney with the Roark Law Firm, was arrested by Hailey police on Nov. 13 after he was involved in a minor traffic accident in an alley near the intersection of River and Spruce streets in west Hailey.
