A Christmas concert at Our Lady of the Snows Catholic Church in Sun Valley will feature the singing of talented children, adolescents and adults. The free show will take place Sunday, Dec. 20, at 6 p.m., at the church on Sun Valley Road.

Several of the musical compositions by Michael W. Smith and Lloyd Larson will be accompanied by a recording of the St. Petersburg Orchestra. Soloists will perform at different times throughout the one-hour concert. Featured soloists will include Anita Cleveland, Colleen Weaver, Allyssa Ritzel, Jim Jordan and Justin Wells. Wood River High School student Joel Rinckwald will accompany soloists on the cello. In addition, singers Rika Pere and Everett Ford will perform.

Longtime valley music teacher Mary Poppen directs the choir. Poppen has taught music for 30 years in the Wood River Valley, including teaching at The Community School and the Music Garden. She performs with The Heaters, plays at weddings and fundraisers, and is music director at Our Lady of the Snows. She also teaches music at the Pioneer Montessori School in Ketchum.

The Christmas concert is designed to tell the true story of Christmas. This year is the first time the concert has been performed in the valley.

The audience will be invited to sing carols at the end of the performance.

Admission is free, though donations will be accepted. For details, call 622-3432.
