Ketchum resident Carter Ramsay was appointed to the board of the Blaine County Housing Authority by the Blaine County Commission after being interviewed Monday.
Ramsay, a Ketchum City Council candidate in November, was nominated by the council. He will replace Nathan Fierman, who stepped down from his position on the board in November for personal reasons. Ramsay will hold the post until at least through 2011.
Ramsay, 31, owns a general contracting business and is also a board member of the Sustain Blaine economic development initiative.
"Carter has great energy and dedication to not just affordable housing, but to an overall sustainable economy as well," said Housing Authority Executive Director Kathy Grotto. "We're also really excited to get someone who has been involved in Sustain Blaine on our board."
Grotto said Ramsay's first challenges on the board will be to help Ketchum work through issues involving employee and community housing requirements for several new hotel projects that have been approved by the city.
"I believe my energy, professionalism and general contracting skill set will be an asset and catalyst to the current momentum held by the Blaine County Housing Authority," Ramsay wrote in an e-mail. "Furthermore, as a board member of Sustain Blaine, collaboration between the two entities will be more efficient."
