Gallery to feature photography show

Photos Do Not Bend Gallery on Fourth Street next to the Ketchum Post Office will hold a party featuring martinis, a photo booth and half-priced art on Friday, Dec. 11, from 6-8 p.m. Photographer Thia Konig will have several prints available as well as some that are matted. Many of her prints were created in a darkroom using a gelatin silver process on film and paper, which is no longer available. In addition, Konig will also feature photographer David N. Seelig with his images of rock stars.

Holiday shopping benefits sister city

The annual Croney Cove European Christmas Market will take place Saturday, Dec. 12, and Sunday, Dec. 13, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The market will feature unique homemade delicacies, treats, treasures, ornaments, collectibles, European antiques and rugs. A $5 donation at the gate includes a raffle ticket and benefits Ketchum's sister city, Tegernsee, Germany. The market will take place at 1034 Warm Springs Road west of Ketchum, eight miles past the Warm Springs base area, before the hot springs. For details, call 726-2683.

Studio to hold holiday clay carnival

Boulder Mountain Clayworks will celebrate the holiday season with an interactive party on Friday, Dec. 11, from 4-7 p.m. The holiday clay carnival will include raffles for gift certificates and pottery, a silent auction, wheel-throwing contest and children's ornament making. In addition, Boulder Mountain Clayworks will serve hors d'oeuvres, hot cocoa, wine and other refreshments. Sale items will be available Friday and Saturday, Dec. 12, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. For details, call 726-4484.

St. Luke's ball offers affordable tickets

The St. Luke's Volunteer Core will hold its annual St. Luke's Winter Ball on Saturday, Dec. 12, at the Sun Valley Inn Limelight Room. This year's ball includes a raffle drawing with eight prizes—tickets are $10 or 12 for $100. In addition, a paddle donation round will take place for dinner guests. Tickets for the entire black-tie-optional event are $150 and include cocktails at 6 p.m., a three-course dinner at 7 p.m. and dancing at 9 p.m.

In addition, this year the ball expands to include a Junior Patron ticket for $25. Junior Patrons can attend the event at 9 p.m. and will receive a complimentary glass of champagne, enjoy a dessert buffet and dance to the live music of Boise's High Street Band. For details, call 727-8406.

Benefit kicks off winter festival

Mountaineer and backcountry skier Andrew McLean will present a slide show, video and lecture at 8 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 12, at the Pepper Party Place in the 511 Building on Fifth Street in Ketchum. The event, which will continue until 1 a.m., is $15 and will include free beer and DJ music by Iron Monkey Soundsystem from Jackson, Wyo.

McLean's presentation will begin a benefit evening for the Sawtooth National Forest Avalanche Center and is the first event of the winter for Marley in the Mountains Festival, most of which will take place Feb. 26-27.
