SNRA seeks comment on new Redfish bridges

The Sawtooth National Recreation Area is seeking public comment on a proposal to reconstruct two bridges within the Redfish Lake Recreation Complex south of Stanley.

The north end of Redfish Lake is a popular recreation area in the summer, and a pair of bridges on Redfish Lake Road, which leads from state Highway 75 to Redfish Lodge and numerous campgrounds, are showing signs of deterioration. The bridges were built in 1956 and 1957.

To solve the problem, the SNRA is considering either replacing both bridges in their current locations or creating a single new bridge that would require the relocation of the road. In the latter scenario, one of the current bridges would be removed and the other converted into a pedestrian-only crossing.

Comments on either plan can be sent to: Sawtooth National Forest, Attention: Redfish Lake Proposal, 2647 Kimberly Rd. E., Twin Falls, ID 83301.

Comments should be received by Dec. 15.
