Sun Valley Youth Hockey girls host their home tourney Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 5-6 at the Sun Valley Indoor Ice Rink. Joining SVYH U-19 and U-14 girls will be teams from Boise, Idaho Falls and Salmon plus one team comprised of Sun Valley women's players.
The SVYH U-19 team holds its "Senior Game" against Idaho Falls on Saturday at 3:45 p.m., honoring Ashley Hesteness, Nellie Brown, and Morgan Pintler. U-19 girls also play Saturday at 9:40 a.m. and Sunday at 9 a.m. U-14 girls play with Salmon Sunday at 10:10 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.
The Sun Valley women skate Saturday at 10:50 a.m. and 6:45 p.m., and Sunday at 7:50 a.m.
This year's tournament has a breast cancer awareness theme, "Skate the Rink Pink." The rink and players will wear pink to increase breast cancer awareness. The team is also conducting two fundraisers to support the cause. "Skate the Rink Pink" T-shirts will be sold at the games, and the team is conducting a raffle. Proceeds support breast cancer screening for the uninsured and underinsured at St. Luke's, and pay for jerseys for new players.
Pink raffle tickets are $5, sold by players and at the tournament games. The raffle will be drawn on Sunday, with two prizes. They are $500 gift cards at Sturtevants.
