High school football players from state runner-up Mackay and third-place Carey dominated the first-team selections of the 2009 All-Sawtooth Conference football team announced Nov. 24 after completion of the State 1A Division 2 Milk Bowl playoffs.

"Coach of the Year" was Mackay's Lance Rosenkrance, who guided the Miners to an 11-1 season and second place to Salmon River of Riggins in a wild 64-62 championship game at Pocatello. Last year's state champion Carey (9-2) finished third this year.

Seniors Dillon Simpson, Gonzalo Zarate and Todd Peck of Carey garnered first-team honors on offense and defense. Trevor Peck, also a senior, was first-team linebacker.
