Hailey attorney charged with DUI

Express Staff Writer

Hailey attorney Kevin Cassidy was arrested on a misdemeanor DUI charge Friday night after he allegedly backed his vehicle into a parked car in west Hailey.

A probable cause affidavit filed by Hailey police states that the accident occurred about 4:10 p.m. in an alley near the intersection of River and Spruce streets. Police were called after Cassidy, driving a red Dodge Durango, allegedly backed into a parked white Ford truck.

The affidavit further states that Cassidy was taken into custody after he failed three field sobriety tests. He was released from the Blaine County jail early Saturday morning after posting $500 bond.

Cassidy, an attorney with the Roark Law Firm, previously served as a magistrate court judge in Gooding County. He recently applied for 5th District Court judge openings in Gooding and Minidoka counties but later withdrew his applications.

"Kevin withdrew his name a few weeks ago from both judge positions because he decided he didn't want to move away from Hailey," Roark Law Firm attorney Douglas Nelson said Tuesday.
