My appreciation to the people throughout the community who supported me in the recent election as well as the citizens who showed up to vote for me. We share concerns and a common vision about the future of our valley and want to help to rebuild the energy. My thanks also to the editorial staff of this newspaper, who endorsed my candidacy because they know my background and appreciate my experience. My congratulations to the winners of the two open seats in the Sun Valley City Council—they ran well-funded and highly organized campaigns and will serve the city very well.
My response to the election in the newspaper last Friday implied I was shocked about the finances expended by the "political machine." This was not my intended message. I am aware that the candidates used their own resources for the most part and the total amount of dollars expended could not have reached shocking proportions.
I was surprised (if not shocked) by the intensity and urgent organization of the Committee to Save Sun Valley that rallied behind the two candidates in response to an attack on the incumbent in the form of a mailed flyer issued by a committee with a similar name that spurred this committee to surface and ultimately contributed to the election of those two candidates.
We all want to save Sun Valley, the world renowned, iconic, destination ski resort—as well as the foundation of our economic structure, and as such all the cities including the city of Sun Valley as well as all the citizens of the Wood River Valley should contribute in their own unique roles to weave a fabric of common energy resulting in sustainable prosperity for the complete Sun Valley community. We all live here because of that honorable heritage and should continue our efforts to foster the future.
