Hailey police cited a 21-year-old Hailey man for allegedly driving under the influence after he crashed his 1999 Ford pickup into a parked vehicle Sunday evening on Woodside Boulevard.

Police identified the suspect as Juan Patlan-Baeze. Police Chief Jeff Gunter said Patlan-Baeze received "minor injuries" in the crash and was transported to St. Luke's Wood River Medical Center, where he was treated and released. Gunter said the citation was issued at the hospital.

The police chief said Patlan-Baeze was northbound on Woodside Boulevard when he crashed his pickup into a legally parked Jeep Cherokee at 3170 Woodside Boulevard about 8:20 p.m. Gunter said Patlan-Baeze had to be extricated from the vehicle by Wood River Fire and Rescue.

According to the police report, Patlan-Baeze was not wearing a seatbelt.

Gunter said Patlan-Baeze was traveling at a "high rate of speed" when the accident occurred. Damage was estimated at $8,000 to the Patlan-Baeze vehicle and $7,000 to the Jeep Cherokee.
