Each day is a gift

As I mourn the recent unexpected loss of a close and wonderful friend, I am once again reminded just how precious and short this gift of life is. The only guarantee that you get in life is it comes with a checkout date. All you can really do about it is live a life that leaves you with no regrets, or at least as few as possible, upon completion.

So please, live life to the fullest and do not forget to have some fun along the way! Do not put off until someday the things you want to achieve, see and do, as someday may never come. Also do not be afraid to let the people you care about know how you feel about them. You never know when might be the last time you will ever get to see each other.

It is so easy to become overwhelmed with life's responsibilities, pressures and annoyances and begin to dwell on them. I would like to encourage everyone to treat each day as a gift and try to instead focus on and drink in the more positive sides of life: love, friendship, family, good times, favorite activities and the beauty of nature are what matter in life, not the guy who cut you off or is just driving too slow. Try to be a little more tolerant of your fellow human beings; we are all in the same boat and doing the best we can.

As much as I hurt for the loss of my friend, I realize how much it pales in comparison to the loss and suffering of his family. I can only offer my support and hope that they will find the strength to get through this time of sorrow. It just breaks my heart that you all have had to endure such grief, not once but twice now.

To my friend, I would wish to say, you know how much you and our friendship meant to me, as I have told you before. As sorry as I am that there will be no more great times and adventures ahead, I am equally grateful for all we had in the past. I will miss you terribly and never forget you! I pray you have found and are now with the one who had left us before and do not worry about the loved ones you have left behind—they will be taken care of by the ones who loved you! May our paths cross again somewhere down the line.
