Ignorance is not bliss when it comes to protecting this great country. Knowledge is empowering.
Six months ago I attended a Heritage Foundation function. On the agenda was a film, "33 Minutes: Protecting America in the New Missile Age." After viewing the film, I felt that every American should see "33 Minutes," and immediately signed up to bring it to our community. The recent instability in Pakistan, Iran's pursuit of nuclear weapons and North Korea's missile testing make this film very timely.
The Community Campus auditorium (former Wood River High School) has been reserved for Nov. 11. Doors will open at 6 p.m. James Carafano, senior fellow at the Heritage Foundation and a leading expert in defense and homeland security, will speak at the event and will be available for questions following.
Locally, I have heard the Heritage Foundation referred to as a "Republican men's club." The Heritage Foundation is in fact a nonprofit, nonpartisan, Washington-based public policy institution working in conjunction with partners and advocates for national defense in academia, government, Congress and the private sector.
I urge everyone to attend this free film.
