Skiers and snowboarders will pay $5 more for a day on Bald Mountain during peak season this winter than they did last year.
Sun Valley Co. announced its one-day adult lift ticket price, which for Baldy is $85 in peak season—Dec. 26 to Jan. 2—and for Dollar Mountain is $42.
In recent history, the price has increased year to year, with each bump usually being larger than the previous year's. A peak-season day pass for Baldy cost $66 in 2004, $67 in 2005, $69 in 2006, $74 in 2007, $79 in 2008, and $80 in 2009.
Aspen Skiing Co., which controls four lift-served mountains around Aspen, Colo., hasn't released its one-day lift prices yet and neither have Vail-Beaver Creek or Keystone-Breckenridge, also in Colorado.
Sun Valley's last-year ticket price of $80 was cheaper than those resorts, with Aspen charging $96, Vail-Beaver Creek $97 and Keystone-Breckenridge $92. With this year's $5 increase, Sun Valley is still below those resorts' last year prices.
According to an Aspen employee, ticket prices won't be formalized until mid-November so the company can base early-season prices on snow conditions. Vail-Beaver Creek prices won't be available until a day or two before the Nov. 20 opening, for the same reason. Keystone-Breckenridge has announced an opening-day price of $65 for adults, but one-day prices for the rest of the season are still up in the air.
Jackson Hole Mountain Resort in Wyoming has announced one-day lift ticket prices of $91 for its peak season.
