The Sun Valley-Ketchum Chamber & Visitors Bureau, the Hailey Chamber of Commerce and the Idaho Mountain Express have joined forces to create "Shot in the Arm Saturday," a promotion to encourage local shopping and support valley businesses.

The event will take place Saturday, Nov. 7, and any shopper spending $25 or more at participating businesses throughout the entire Wood River Valley will be eligible to win $500 in Chamber Choice gift certificates.

Businesses participating in the promotion in Ketchum, Sun Valley, Hailey and Bellevue will be identified by a sign in windows and doors.

"This is a great way to encourage our community's economic sustainability through a fun promotion that invites people to shop and support local businesses on one specific day during the slower period of November," said Carol Waller, Sun Valley-Ketchum chamber executive director. "We look forward to having this promotion provide a 'shot in the arm' for our local businesses in the valley at a time when they really need it."

The drawing for the $500 prize will be held at the Business Showcase on Thursday, Nov. 12, at the Sun Valley Inn's Limelight Room.

Stefany Mahoney, visitor services director for the Sun Valley-Ketchum chamber, said the chamber will poll Ketchum businesses in the week following the event to calculate the effectiveness of the promotion.

Businesses wishing to take part in the event should call Mahoney at 725-2105.
