"Freedom Riders" is a high-definition documentary film for the mountain bike enthusiast who enjoys a good downhill. The film presents the evolution of the freeride mountain biking community and highlights the Teton Freedom Riders and their ability to work with the U.S. Forest Service to preserve and create freeride trails.

Illegal trails were being built on Teton Pass in Wyoming by a group of renegade bikers. The trails were discovered when a hiker was lost on the illegal trails. Trees were dropped on the trails, and the riders who built them came forward to the U.S. Forest Service. Since then, the riders and the Forest Service have been working together to build legal trails.

The film explores the roots of freeriding, including industry leaders Tom Richey and Gary Fischer. In addition, it includes present-day events such as the Red Bull Rampage. The film also captures illegal trail-building issues in other parts of the country, including North Carolina, Colorado and Marin County, Calif.

"Freedom Riders" will screen at the Magic Lantern Cinemas in Ketchum on Thursday, Nov. 5, at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $8 and there will be a raffle. For details, call 726-4274 or (307) 690-7411.
