Timmerman Junction, where U.S. Highway 20 meets state Highway 75, was the scene of another injury accident last Thursday afternoon.
A Canadian couple was transported by Wood River Fire and Rescue ambulance to St. Luke's Wood River Medical Center where they were treated and released.
The Blaine County Sheriff's Office reported Monday that the accident occurred shortly before 4:15 p.m. when a green 2003 Jeep Cherokee, driven by Sangbok Lee, a 59-year-old Vancouver, B.C., man, collided with a utility trailer being pulled by Preston Farner, a 29-year-old Rexburg man, in a blue 2006 Chevrolet pickup.
The sheriff's office reported that Lee was westbound on Highway 20 and Farner was northbound on Highway 75.
"Witness statements at the scene stated Mr. Lee failed to yield from the westbound U.S. 20 stop sign," the report states. "Mr. Lee slowed down, but did not come to a complete stop and proceeded into the intersection."
The report further states that Lee told officers that he "believed the intersection was a four-way stop."
Lee was cited for failure to stop at a stop sign. The extent of his injuries, and those of his wife, 52-year-old Jaekung Lee, were not available but were reportedly not serious.
The sheriff's office reported that the Lee couple and Farner were wearing seatbelts.
Timmerman Junction was the scene of another injury accident on July 10 when a westbound vehicle failed to yield at the stoplight and crashed into a southbound Mountain Rides Transportation Authority commuter van. There were no serious injuries in that crash either.
According to the Idaho Transportation Department, 19 traffic accidents, resulting in nine injuries, occurred at the intersection from 2004 through 2008.
ITD reported last summer that it is studying ways to improve safety at the crossing.
