When Halloween falls on a weekend, the sky is the limit for candy, costumes and lots of laughs or scares. Costume planning is a necessity this year because kids are expected to attend a number of fun-filled events.

In Ketchum, Leroy's Haunted Halloween Party will take place on Saturday, Oct. 31, from 4-6 p.m. in the Ketchum Town Plaza at the corner of Fourth Street and East Avenue. Kids can partake in carnival games, crafts, music, sweet and savory treats and a pumpkin-carving contest. Entries for the pumpkin-carving contest need to be submitted by 1 p.m. to Leroy's in the Ketchum Town Plaza on Saturday.

In addition, activities will include a cryptic graveyard and a costume contest with prizes for the creepiest, silliest and most creative creations. Carnival games include a bouncy house, bobbing for eyeballs, ring toss, bowling and more, with prizes and candy. After the party, kids can trick or treat at local participating businesses.

Kids can also join in on the fun at the annual Hailey Halloween Hoopla on Saturday, Oct. 31, from 3-6:30 p.m. Hailey merchants will display orange-and-black balloons to let trick-or-treaters know where to go.

The Liberty Theatre will hold a costume contest with prizes for the best dressed in each age group. The Meriweather Building will be feeding monsters, princesses and goblins in a haunted kitchen.

In addition, Webb will hold its fourth annual Halloween Scavenger Hunt on Friday, Oct. 30, from 2:30-6:30 p.m. and the Community Campus in Hailey will have a Harvest Party on Saturday, Oct. 31, from 5:30-8:30 p.m. presented by Wood River Valley churches for ages fifth grade and above. No scary costumes and admission is free.
