Spinelli mum on exit from Chamber

‘Different visions’ and personal reasons cited by associates

The Hailey Chamber of Commerce is seeking a new executive director following the unexpected resignation of Jim Spinelli last week. Spinelli did not return calls and e-mails from the Idaho Mountain Express seeking reasons for his departure.

Chamber board President Lisa Emerick said she "regretted" accepting Spinelli's resignation but that it was not a surprise, saying "we had different visions." She declined to elaborate further.

An Oct. 19 letter from Assistant Executive Director Anna Svidgal stated that "Jim has led the organization through a period of strong growth and greatly improved the visibility of the chamber and services to the chamber membership. The chamber board of directors is unanimously appreciative of his efforts as executive director over the last two years. He will be missed."

Svidgal and others said Spinelli resigned for personal reasons.

Hailey Mayor Rick Davis said he did not know why Spinelli stepped down and said he had been doing a "great job."

The chamber announced that its office and visitors center on Main Street will continue to be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday while the search for a new executive director continues.
