From an original list of five applicants, three finalists have been picked by the Friedman Memorial Airport Authority to contend for a large contract as financial consultant for a replacement airport.
The finalists are Jacobs Consultancy of Burlingame, Calif.; Leibowitz & Horton of Denver; and Ricondo & Associates of Chicago.
Two other firms—Unison, of Chicago, and Parsons Brinkerhoff, of Murray, Utah,—were eliminated in a short-listing session conducted by airport authority members Martha Burke, Ron Fairfax and Len Harlig, airport Manager Rick Baird and Denver-based legal consultant Peter Kirsch.
The winner will be selected today, Oct. 16, after the finalists are interviewed in a special meeting of the airport authority at the Old Blaine County Courthouse beginning at 9 a.m.
The financial consultant will be responsible for developing a plan to estimate the costs of a new airport and spell out funding methods, including disposal of Friedman airport property purchased with Federal Aviation Administration funds.
In another 120 days, according to Baird, the airport authority will work on selection of a project manager to oversee construction of a new airport.
