This is not the time for an unnecessary, utopian school program. We already spend more than twice the state average per student, which of course is a good thing since much of Idaho's education system is deficient.
As has been said by others, this amorphous levy is frivolous and is being perpetrated on us at the worst possible time. Now we see the school sistrict's Machiavellian machinations in setting a stand-alone election during the week before the general election—a tactic reminiscent of Chicago's Mayor Richard Daley Sr.
Many people are struggling to hold on to their homes or pay their rent. Any break that could be afforded the citizenry during this recession would be much appreciated. Allowing the existing levy to expire, without imposing another, would provide a meaningful local stimulus.
I urge you to overcome the inconvenience of having to make a second trip to the polls, and vote this ill-conceived levy down.
