Mountain Rides not social service

Are airports or highways called "social services?" That's what the Idaho Mountain Express called the Mountain Rides Transportation Authority in its Sept. 16 article titled "Blaine County approves $24.3 million budget." Mountain Rides is not a social service. Mountain Rides is a mainstream commuting and mobility option for all citizens and guests in Blaine County and beyond.

We offer all travel options, from pedestrian services, bicycle programs, car and vanpools to fixed-route transit. Further, we provide travel counseling, real estate location advice and transportation planning services. In other words, we're a full-service transportation agency providing all travel options except for the single occupant car. We are not a social service agency.

Peter Everett

Chairman, Mountain Rides Transportation Authority
