Woodside needs speed bumps

My wife and I are proud homeowners in Woodside. In fact, we live right on Woodside Boulevard. On the evening of Sept. 24, we were awoken to the sound of a car racing down the street, exceeding the speed limit by two times, maybe three. Well, you might say they were in a hurry, but we live right next to a stop sign. With no regard for laws or the safety of others, this person blew right through the stop. What is it going to take, someone losing their life?

I understand Woodside Boulevard is a major street for the neighborhood, but it is also shared by pedestrians and bikers. People walk down Woodside all the time. This is not the first time this has happened. There have been two high-speed police chases right past our house in the past two years. I can't count how many times people race down the street. This is unacceptable! The stop sign seems to be only used when people deem it necessary, or when someone is looking.

I propose that the city install speed bumps or dips, before and after stop signs, and intermittently along the boulevard. This will help maintain the 25 mph speed limit and help keep the street safe. Design the bumps so you can't go over them faster than 25 mph. It's that simple!

Old Hailey has speed bumps and dips, why not Woodside? Are we a second-rate neighborhood? I would like to think not.
